A Glass Half Full

I don’t know about you, but I am usually a ‘glass half full’ type of person. Optimism, and being grateful for what you have is better, in my opinion, than focusing on, and being miserable about, what you don’t have, because that way you don’t appreciate what you have been blessed with. Well, today I have reached a point with a composition that has been taunting me for a while where I can say it is half finished. This particular piece is ultimately going to be in four movements and I completed the second yesterday after exploring several dead ends and struggling to balance the phrase lengths. Don’t ask me what the cause of the writer’s block was or what happened to get me through it, because I really don’t know. All I can say is that after a while of wrestling, walking away, wrestling again it finally yielded and allowed itself to be written. That my friends is my definition of a good day!
