It is Monday and I should have had this post published on Friday. As is often the case I am running a little late. You know that feeling you have when you are in a rehearsal and the conductor says they want to start at a point somewhere in the score, and by the time you have found it and realised you need to have a mute in or some other such detail, the music has begun and you are late with your entry? That is my life at the moment. It isn’t like I am not paying attention, it is just a fact that juggling random objects and keeping to a schedule are not always mutually compatible. Even in the depths of chaos it is still possible to have moments when the world stops turning and time stands still enough for you to capture an idea, to have a moment of inspiration. This happened to me on Thursday in band rehearsal. I had an idea for another composition. More about that later, if I get an opportunity to start sketching it out. Meanwhile I still have some finished stuff to get to the printer. All I need is for the conductor of the universe to wait just long enough for me to get that “mute” sorted before giving the next down beat and I might just be able to keep up.
