There are many ways to be uplifted, some legal and others not, but by far and away the most reliable, healthy, longest lasting and above all legal high comes from making music, especially in a good concert. Last night, Saturday 17th May 2025, was one such occasion! I am still buzzing from the high of the dopamine rush that singing Bob Chilcott’s Little Jazz Mass and the epic Haydn Missa in tempore belli gave me, and I am sure it will last for some time to come. That coupled with the fact life is returning a little bit more to normal (after an horrendous start to the year due to a family illness) and I am back to work on my latest composition, a choral work. I also was privileged once again to play the Last Post for a VE Day act of remembrance on 11th May at Linton on Ouse which has inspired me to finish off my Requiem of Remembrance, a work almost complete but needing tidying up. Life and writing tends to keep me away from blogging, but after all, there would be nothing to blog about if it was not for the music, and I would rather be doing that.
