Starting something new is always an adventure and in my case the new thing is harnessing the power of the internet. Yes, like many of my generation, I embraced technology as an adult, not having grown up with it, but rather growing into it, and for a long time I have been quite at home “surfing” the net, writing emails and dabbling in social media. I have even happily taken to my laptop as a music writing and recording tool, but using the internet to reach out rather than consume is an whole new world to me. It was the great nineteenth century American author Henry David Thoreau who wrote, “It is not easy to write in a journal what interests us at any time, because to write it is not what interests us.” This sums up perfectly where I find myself as I set out on this virtual adventure into cyber space; what interests me is music, creating, making and sharing it, not tinkering with the complexities of managing a website or chasing marketing goals. However, here I am. Let the Adventure begin!
